There's no way to prove it but I think if they either followed up or proceeded this air assault with a couple battalions of airborne soldiers and/or used predetermined artillery fire support for this operation it likely would have been successful and they would have been able to use the airport to fly in soldiers and supplies within a couple days.

Glocks are not uniquely susceptible to being converted into machine guns.
Every striker fired gun that has a "trigger bar" that is above the trigger shoe can be converted in EXACTLY the same way.
The only reason "glock switches" are in common use now is because Glocks are the most popular striker fired guns in America (also why they're recovered so often). Nothing else about them is unique design wise...
