On June 8th 1967, the US Navy ship USS Liberty was attacked by Israel resulting in dozens killed and almost 200 Americans wounded.
There's lots of information from "both sides" and I always urge folks to do their own research but the fact that Israel was behind the multi-phase attack is not in dispute.
